Description
The conditions for the use of chemicals are regulated by the Romanian law, ensuring the protection of health for the population and the environment. A database for the management of chemicals designed in accord with these legal provisions is a must. This database is an efficient way to manage the inventory of chemicals. By using it, a rigorous accounting of the supplied and used chemicals is kept. The chemicals are classified according to different physical and chemical parameters (molecular formula, molecular weight, state of aggregation, purity), standard codes (CAS, EINECS, Risk and Safety Statements (R,S)). The MS Access software was used to build the database. After successfully testing of this database in the Post-Irradiation Examination Laboratory, the implementation in other laboratories of our Institute is in progress. (authors)
