Experimental study of the movement of an elongated bubble in a vertical pipe

Description

The movement of a single elongated bubble in a vertical pipe was studied using the method for the analysis of a sequence of video images. The method is based on the detection and tracking of the edges of bubbles in a sequence of video frames. The method allows to measure the size, the shape, and the translational velocity of elongated bubbles. It is shown that this method is a useful tool for studying the flow in the wake of elongated bubbles. (authors)
