Radiation therapy treatment for early stage prostate cancer: conformal versus conventional techniques

Description
In order to determine the value of three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy therapy for the treatment of early stage prostate cancer, 3-D conformal radiotherapy was compared to the conventional radiotherapy techniques currently in use in Queensland. The advantages and disadvantages of both techniques were considered. When dosimetric comparisons were performed, it was concluded that the six-field conformal technique was the optimal treatment plan. 5 refs., 6 figs
