Muon systems with a solenoidal detector

Creators

Description

The detection of muons will be an important part of any general purpose SSC detector for two very basic reasons: High transverse momentum (pt) muons signal interesting physics appropriate to the SSC energy scale, and muons are possible to identify and measure in the high rate, high multiplicity environment of the SSC. The design considerations for a muon system for an SSC detector are outlined. R and D plans to develop a system meeting these criteria are given
