Description
In this paper surface modification process parameters for N+ implantation of carbide twist drills are given and the improvement in properties of the ion-implanted drills is described. It was proved that the ion implantation technology not only increased the drills' working lifetime by a factor of 2-4 but also improved the quality of the hole on the printed circuit board. The cost of the ion implantation process is significantly lower than the acquisition price of the drills. Therefore, N+ implantation technology has remarkable advantages and important value in industrial applications. (orig.)
