Activation analysis by #betta# spectroscopy after cyclic irradiation with 14 MeV neutrons, illustrated by the example of the 19F(n,p)19O reaction

Description
In the present work the concentrations of fluorine in human tooth and other materials have been determined by 14 MeV neutron activation analysis. For analytical work short-lived indicator nuclides have been used. The effects of matrix activity, which is high for natural samples, have been discussed and a solution has been worked out. Various functions have been tried for the interpolation of the efficiency values of Ge(Li)-detectors. For a cylindrical neutron tube the flux distribution and flux averaged on the sample volume have been formulated and numerically calculated. (orig.)

In dieser Arbeit wird Fluor im menschlichen Zahn und anderen Materialien mit Hilfe der 14-MeV-Neutronenaktivierungsanalyse quantitativ nachgewiesen. Dabei wird die Problematik der Analyse mit Hilfe kurzlebiger Indikatornuklide bei hohen Matrixaktivitaeten aufgezeigt und eine Loesung erarbeitet. Verschiedene Funktionen zur Interpolation von Ge(Li)-Efficiency-Werten werden untersucht. Das Problem der Flussverteilung innerhalb einer zylindrisch aufgebauten Neutronenroehre und das des mittleren Flusses im Probenvolumen werden formuliert und ein numerisches Berechnungsverfahren entwickelt.
