In this talk I shall try to review the activities of the study group on Monte Carlo software which has been organized at CERN in the context of the current workshop on Physics at LEP. First I shall discuss the accuracy that we are aiming for, and for which processes this accuracy is relevant. Then I review briefly the status of our knowledge on the various ingredients that go into a Monte Carlo program. I will then describe a number of programs for μ pair production and their agreement
