Study of 58140Ce from the decay of 57140La

Description
The decay of 57140La (40.3 h) to levels in 58140Ce has been studied in the present work. The energies and relative intensities of 37 gamma-rays following the β- decay of 57140La have been measured with high precision using Ge(Li) and HP.Ge spectrometers. log (ft) values of beta decay were determined from our gamma ray intensities using the beta branchings and a decay scheme is deduced. The sum-peak technique has been used to determine k-conversion coefficient of the transition 1596.41 keV and was found to be 6.98x10-4 in an excellent agreement with the theoretical value 6.9x10-4 obtained by Pauli for pure E2 transition. Abstract (German)
Es wurde der Zerfall von 57140La (40.3 h) zu den verschiedenen Energieniveaus des 58140Ce untersucht. Mit grosser Genauigkeit unter Verwendung von Ge(Li)- und HP.Ge-Spektrometern wurden die Energien und die relativen Intensitaeten von 37 Gamma-Linien gemessen, die beim β-Zerfall des 57140La auftreten. log (ft)-Werte des β-Zerfalls wurden aus den Gamma-Intensitaeten unter Verwendung der β-Verzweigungen und ein Zerfallsschema daraus abgeleitet. Die Summenpeak-Technik wurde zur Bestimmung des k-Konversionskoeffizienten des Uebergangs bei 1596,41 keV verwendet, der sich mit 6,98.10-4 in sehr guter Uebereinstimmung mit dem theoretischen Wert nach Pauli (6,9.10-4) befand.
