Recent situation of the return waste
Description
Japanese electric power companies entrust spent fuel reprocessing to U.K. and France. After reprocessing, high level wastes and low level wastes are to be returned. High level wastes (vitrified residue) from COGEMA of France have been returned to Japan since 1995, and those from U.K. BNFL will also be returned. As for low level wastes, CSD-C and bitumen solidification wastes from France, and cement solidification wastes and technological wastes from the U.K. are to be returned. Recently, BNFL proposed waste substitution, and COGEMA proposed to change solid method of low level waste fluid. (author)
