Cacotheline as a reagent in the detection of iron(II and III), vanadium(II and III), copper(I and II) and sulphite
- 1. Andhra Univ., Waltair (India). Dept. of Chemistry
Description
Cacotheline has been used for the detection of vanadium(II and III) and others. Cacotheline gives a pink colour after the reduction with these ions. Vanadium(II) and vanadium(III) are detected in 3M H2SO4 and 8M CH3COOH medium respectively. The test is specific for vanadium II and permits its detection even in the presence of vanadium(III).
