Human factors engineering is an interdisciplinary specialty concerned with influencing the design of equipment systems, facilities, and operation environments to promote safe, efficient, and reliable operator performance. The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) has undertaken three projects studying the application of human factors engineering principles to the development of nuclear power plant control rooms
