Some themes from physics in collision
Description
The inadequacy of the Standard Model is illustrated for a specific way, and its unfinished business, knowledge of the top quark parameters and the Higgs boson, is discussed. At present supersymmetry is the only hint, uncertain, of where to look for the new physics needed; it predicts a stable bino of large mass. The highest energies of cosmic ray particles are beyond present accelerator energies but appear unavailable for high energy particle physics. (author)
