Heavy-ion energy loss

Creators

Description

Recent data on the stopping of heavy ions in matter are compared to Ziegler, Biersack and Littmark's semi-empirical stopping power calculations, which are frequently used for the simulation of ion beam analyses spectra. Data giving new insights into the physical basis of the semi-empirical stopping power formulation are discussed. (orig.)
