Artefact correction at coordinate measuring with industrial X-ray computed tomography

Description
The non-destructive inspection of complex components is an important task in industrial production. The requirements comprise a fast verification of the dimensional accuracy as well as the analysis of nominal/actual value comparisons. To meet these requirements Computed Tomography (CT) is best suited as a non-destructive testing method. However with this method physical effects, like beam hardening and scattered radiation, are causing artefacts within the reconstructed slices that reduce image quality and that make it difficult, if not impossible, to perform the aforementioned inspection task. This contribution describes how, by using Iterative Artefact Reduction (IAR), the quality of reconstruction can be improved. Using a special reference body and an aluminum test body selected parameters and measurands are obtained and the achieved increase in precision is quantified. (orig.)
