Kinetics of reactions of solvated electrons with radiolysis products of aliphatic monohydric alcohols

Description

To clarify the mechanism of radiolytic transformations in alcoholic systems, information is required on the kinetics of reactions of solvated electrons with alcohols and their principal radiolysis products: alkoxonium ions and carbonyl compounds. We comparatively measured the kinetics of reactions in methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, 2-propanol, and 1-butanol by a pulsed radiolysis method. We used a rapid action spectrophotometric apparatus for a nanosecond pulsed radiolysis a microsecond pulsed radiolysis apparatus
