Description
Within the framework of the given boundary conditions results of the cooperation between the Moscow Energetic Institue, Chair of Nuclear Power Plants, and the Dresden Technical University, Scientific Department of Nuclear Power, in the field of reactor safety research for more than 15 years are characterized. Objects of the studies are WWER type reactors for which thorough analyses concerned with both design basis accidents and individual phenomena during severe accidents are performed. The experimental and theoretical works focus to fuel rod behaviour including fission product release and thermodynamic as well as fluid-dynamic processes in the primary circuit, especially in the pressure vessel, and in the containment. Further investigations are aimed at improvement of safety estimation by probabilistic methods. (author)
