Description
Taking the ground state 1s21S of a highly stripped two-electron impurity ion Ne8+ (Z=10) in a magnetized plasma as a typical example, it is shown in this calculation that the magnetic-field-induced shift of the ground state energy of the ion depends on the plasma screening strength as well. Also, the diamagnetism of the ion increases as the diamagnetic susceptibility becomes more negative with increased screening strength, which may be attributed to the expansion of the ion's bound electronic orbit under enhanced plasma screening.
