Control rod and reactor core of BWR type reactor

Description

A control rod is prepared by arranging a large number of neutron control rods filled with B4C as a neutron absorber in a row and contained in a sheath. The sheaths are welded to a support member passing the central portion of the control rod. The neutron absorbing rod is prepared by filling B4C power in an elongated cladding tube made of a stainless steel. The inside of the cladding tube is partitioned in a large number in vertical direction by stainless steel partitioning balls. The control rod is partitioned in two to upper and lower regions at substantially the intermediate portion of the entire length, namely, at a position where the distance from the upper end is about 1/2 of the entire length of the control rod. B4C comprising 10B enriched boron is filled to the upper region, and B4C comprising natural boron is filled as a starting material to the lower region. Then, the amount of enriched boron can be reduced while ensuring the control rod worth as a whole and improving the reactor scram margin. (I.N.)
