The world demand of petroleum, according to the most recent statistics (1996), it ascended, on average, to 68 MBD (millions of barrel-day) The projections of the U.S. Energy Information Administration advances a geometric growth of 2.1 percent, until 2015 (in average), which result in an added demand average total of 99 MBD at the end of the period. That is to say that in the course of next 20 years, the added demand will grow 46 percent
