Description
Coated particles for the High-Temperature Gas-Cooled Reactor (HTR/HTGR) consist of a fuel kernel surrounded by a series of coating layers. The particles are designed to remain retentive of fission products during irradiation at normal equilibrium and transient temperatures of 950-16000C. Accident performance has been investigated by heating at constant temperature (isothermal tests) and/or by temperature ramp tests up to 25000C. To make a comparison among the results of different laboratories possible, this paper focuses on coated particles with oxidic kernel and TRISO coating, the results form isothermal tests. (orig.)
