Description

Possibilities and methods for increasing the angular resolution of gamma telescopes for gamma astronomy purposes are discussed. Several methods for influencing the gamma quanta flux prior to their recording by a detector are proposed as an alternative to the traditional method. This allows discrimination of those gamma quanta which arrive from a definite direction. The following methods are considered: (1) a method of an active sandwich-type collimator made of heavy substance plates and laminated scintillators; (2) a method of an oriented target which uses a converter target with a specially selected substance distribution; (3) a method of scanning a selected sky sector; (4) a telescope with coded aperture (a screen of definite configuration). The proposed methods make it possible to attain the angular resolution of 1-10 angular minites in a 1 m2 detector
