Assessment of energy technology

This volume has three purposes. The first is to demonstrate to the unconvinced reader the importance and necessity for developing countries to perform, and use in decision making by involving decision makers, rigorous energy technology assessment. Later in this introduction, it is argued that developing country energy technology assessment is meaningless without national energy planning, which itself must be part of national planning. The second purpose is to present methods of energy technology assessment. As will be shown, energy technology assessment includes assessment of related energy policies. The third is to describe a number of energy technologies with developing world applicability and, in the process, present many of the factors and parameters which are required in an assessment of the technologies. 7 refs, 6 figs
