Description

The paper briefly describes the working principle of data acquisition for both single-well and multi-well radioimmunoassay (RIA) counting systems and the software developed for data acquisition, data reduction and data presentation. These systems provide a number of alternative methods of curve fitting and calculation of unknowns. These include logit-log, four parameter logistic (4PL) for RIA and point-to-point linear, 4PL for immunoradiometric assay (IRMA). The curve fitting routine includes print-out of the parameters of the equation and a measure of goodness of fit. A table is provided which indicates the percentage difference between the given concentration of each standard and the value calculated from the equation of best fit. Finally a graph of the equation is plotted and each standard point indicated. A table is also provided which indicates the concentration levels of the patients along with their patient code. The system has been tested with different assays and the results are presented. (author). 3 refs., 10 figs., 2 tabs
