Description
This paper provides a numerical simulation of a coal-dust suspension sparkplug ignition in the air. The mathematical model is based on the dual-velocity two-phase model of the reacting gas-dispersion medium. The model consists of the continuity equation, the impulse–conversation equation, the gas and the particle energy-conversation equations, the particle burn-out equation and the component mass-conversation equations which take into account diffusion and burn-out. The energy equations consider the thermal conductivity and chemical reactions on the particle surface. The research investigates the influence of particle size on the minimum sparkplug ignition energy. (paper)
