Description

The research nuclear reactor of the Tokyo City University Atomic Energy Research Laboratory was decided to stop in 2003 and it is under the process of decommissioning. At present, the existing facilities are being utilized for education, and in addition the research related to decommissioning of research nuclear facilities is proceeding. This report is the results of periodically conducted radiation management during one year from April 2017 to March 2018. There was no particular problem in radiation management and environmental radioactivity around the facilities. Regarding the management of nuclear facilities, security inspections were conducted twice a year by the regulatory agency and monthly security patrols were conducted, and there was no particular problem. The security inspections were carried out with article by article type inspection and process inspection. There was no on-site inspection of radiation handling facilities. In this fiscal year, as approval/license and notification, Cs137 was added as a radioactive isotope, and a radiation generator as acceleration device was added. The notification of installation of X-ray diffractometer was accepted. This facility has become a 'specific authorized user' since the change application that needs the permission for use had been approved. In the future, this facility will become an operating establishment to undergo on-site inspection, periodic inspection, and periodic check, so upgraded safety management will be required. (A.O.)
