Inelastic neutron scattering study of acoustic vibrations in zirconium hydride

Description

Spectra of slow neutrons scattered on acoustic vibrations in polycrystal zirconium hydride with different hydrogen content (ZrHsub(1.03), ZrHsub(1.55), ZrHsub(1.84)) have been measured at 300 deg C. Peculiarities which are not observed in ZrHsub(1.03) and ZrHsub(1.55) have been found in the spectra of neutrons scattered by ZrHsub(1.84) sample. Acoustic part of the generalized spectrum of hydrogen atom frequencies in ZrHsub(1.84) lattice is obtained from the experimental data. Iteration method taking into account effects of multiple and multiphonon scattering is used for that purpose. The feature found in the spectra of neutrons scattered on ZrHsub(1.84) acoustic vibrations are conserved in the generalized spectrum. Experimental results are compared with published ZrH2 frequencies spectrum computations according to the central forces model
