Kinetics of electrons at heights of 100-260 km

  • 1. Irkutskij Gosudarstvennyj Univ. (USSR)

Description

The kinetic equation for a photoelectron (PE) spectrum with ionospheric plasma parameters corresponding to the low ionosphere at the heights from 100 to 260 km are considered. The special attention is paid to the possible simplifications of the description methods of the collision integrals and to investigation of the effect of various physical processes on the PE distribution function. The examples of spatial and seasonal variations of some model parameters are presented. The spatial variations of electron concentrations and temperature for phi=45 deg, three seasons with the solar activity Fsub(10.7)=150 are shown. The effect of seasonal variations of the electron concentration is in the exceeding of winter nsup(e) values over summer ones at the heights greater than 230 km. The effect is explained by the dependence of the O++N2 → NO++O ionomolecular reaction coefficien on the N2 oscillation temperature
