Activation analysis of dosimetric LiF (TLD-100) with cyclotron produced neutrons
Description
Activation analysis of two different batches of dosimetric LiF (TLD-100) has been carried out using neutrons from the Hammersmith Cyclotron. The concentrations of Mg, which is the major doping material in LiF, has been determined to be 155 + - 10 and 115 + - 10 ppm in the two batches. The upper limits for the presence of Al, Ca, Mn and Fe in these batches have also been estimated to be 20, 20, 2 and 2 ppm respectively; Titanium could not be detected with the available neutron beam from the Cyclotron. The results obtained are compared with the patent specifications of the Harshaw Chemical Company, the manufacturers of TLD-100, and with the results obtained at other laboratories using different techniques.
