Ultrasonic scanning in radiotherapy treatment planning

  • 1. Gentofte Hospital, Copenhagen (Denmark)

Description

Ultrasonic scanning offers an accurate, atraumatic, and reproducible method for obtaining true anatomical cross-sections of a tumor, surrounding normal tissues, and the external body contour in patients undergoing radiation therapy. The application of isodose curves to the calculation of radiation dose is both easier and more accurate.
