Description

The X-ray diffraction studies on xFe2O3(1-x)[3B2O3PbO] glasses, with x varying from 0 to 50 mol % Fe2O3, are presented. These glasses show a homogeneous structure up to 50 mol % Fe2O3. The radial distribution function G(r) shows for 3B2O3PbO glass three peaks centered at distances: r1 = 1.40 A (B - O), r2 equals 2.40 A (O - O) and r3 = 3.20 A (Pb - O). The G(r) function of the xFe2O3(1-x)[3B2O3PbO] glasses is similar to that obtained for 3B2O3PbO glass. The analysis of the peak areas of the total radial distribution function shows that the peak corresponding to the Fe-O distances is superposed with the peak corresponding to the O-O distances.
