Description

The 25 MeV/nucleon linear accelerator of uranium ions having about 70 m total length is described. Under acceleration conditions with double beam passing the same accelerating structure is used twice with ion intermediate stripping. After the first acceleration the ions are passed through a stripping target, then are directed into the accelerating structure inlet for repeated acceleration. The initial accelerator section, where ions are accelerated up to 1.5 MeV/nucleon energy, represents H-resonators. At the main section the accelerating structure with the Alvarez type drift tubes is used. Beam focusing is made by quadrupole magnetic lenses. Accelerator power supply is provided by 4 high-frequency generators of 13.5 MW total power
