Localized states and chiral spin texture around impurities in La2Cu1-xLixO4
Description
Motivated by recent experimental data on Li doped La2CuO2, we discuss the effect of a small number of in-plane impurities on the spin and charge texture of the cuprates. In agreement with the experiment, we find a mobile hole to be partially localized close to an impurity site reducing the magnetic moment on neighboring Cu sites. The tendency to form a polarized state around the impurity site may lead to an exotic Skyrmion texture for the spins in the plane, as was previously suggested in the context of Sr doping. (orig.)
