Cross sections of transitions between components of fine structure of second group atoms following collisions with inert gas atoms

Description

Averaged in the Maxwell distribution, cross sections of 3P2 → sup(3)PsUb(1.0) transitions in Mg, Ca, Zn, Sr, Cd, Ba atoms following collisions with inert gas atoms X(1S0) have been evaluated. Transitions induced by a relative radial motion of partners are considered. Collisions of the couples of Ca, Zn, Sr, Cd, Ba with X at the thermal energies (300 K<T<1000 K) are characterized by almost adiabatic conditions. For the 3P2 → sup(3)Psub(1.0) transitions in Ca atom, the 3P2 → 3P0 transitions in atoms of Zn, Sr, Cd, Ba following collisions with X atoms (T<1000 K), as well as the transitions in a Mg atom following collisions with atoms of Ne, Ar, Kr, Xe (T<500 K) the role of the Coriolis interaction is insignificant
