Physics for future supercolliders
Description
This paper reports that there has been remarkable progress in understanding the fundamental laws of nature in the past two decades, so that now a real theory of all observed particle interaction exists, called the Standard Model. Finally, after hundreds of years of the development of physics starting from careful descriptions of velocity and acceleration, it is possible to ask broad general questions about such topics as the origins of mass, or why some particles or symmetries exist and not others. Today no experiment in particle physics disagrees with expectations, and there are no puzzles of the traditional sort. Rather, the next stage of experimentation will, it is hoped, help provide answers to very general fundamental, questions
