Magnetochemical investigation into the character of impurities in α-rhombohedral boron

Description

Determined is a phase composition of the impurity resulting in the anomalous behaviour of α-boron susceptibility. Temperature susceptibility dependence in the impurity absence is studied. Measurements of amorphous boron samples susceptibility are carried out for the comparison. The specific magnetic susceptibility of the purest α-boron samples (99.8 weight%) is shown to be -9.80x10-9 m3/kg at room temperature. An anomalous form of the temperature dependence of α-boron magnetic susceptibility is due to the iron monoboride ferromagnetic phase presence in samples what results from B interaction with α-Fe2O3 impurity on heating
