Influence of inert gases on radiation-chemical reactions of nitrogen with methane

  • 1. Nauchno-Issledovatel'skij Fiziko-Khimicheskij Inst., Moscow (USSR)

Description

Presented are investigation results of the composition g'sub(0)(NH3)'' diagrams for threecomponent mixtures: N2-CH4-X, where X=Ne,Kr,Xe; g'sub(0)-is initial radiation-chemical yield of NH3, calculated for the dose, absorbed in nitrogen and methane. Comparison of the ''composition - g'sub(0)(NH3)'' diagrams obtained with one another (X=He,Ne,Ar,Ur,Xe) allowed to draw conclusions: 1)NH3 formation in the nitrogen mixture with methane, irradiated with ionizing radiation can proceed both with N atom participation and N2 molecule participation (most likely in the B3π sub(g) state); 2) NH3 formation mechanism through atoms includes the stage of NH - radical formation, in the reaction with N2 molecule participation this stage is absent. Some assessments, previously made on the basis of the ''composition -g'sub(0)(HCN)'' diagram shape, are specified
