Distorted-wave calculation of electron-impact excitation of atomic oxygen
Creators
Description
A distorted-wave formulation with exchange is given for the electron-impact excitation of atoms from to configurations using the LS-coupling scheme. Phenomenologically determined independent-particle models and distorted-wave potentials are utilized to compute angular distributions and integrated cross sections for 2p→3s,3p, and $4p$ excitations of atomic oxygen over wide ranges of energy and momentum transfer. The results are compared with the Born-approximation limit as well as the experimental integrated cross section of Stone and Zipf.
