Description
Evidence of diffuse scattering in Eu2x2+Eu1-x3+Li1-x+S2 for the range of composition 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.63 is obtained by electron diffraction. The locus of diffuse intensity is a surface in the reciprocal space which does not change with composition, and is quite similar to that obtained for LiFeO2. This is ascribed to short-range order among the cation sites, and is interpreted, as in the case of LiFeO2, by making use of Pauling's rule of local electroneutrality in ionic compounds. (author)
