Defect instability of KCl(001) on argon irradiation
Description
Defect instability of KCl (001) surface has been detected by the method of slow electron diffraction (SED) when irradiating with 50-300 eV argon ions in the temperature range from 300 to 430 K. Energy released during annihilation of short-living defects stimulates avalance-like recombination of defects which is accompanied by the change in the nearsurface layer structure of the crystal
