Spectroscopy with the microball and gammasphere: First results

  • 1. Washington Univ., St. Louis, MO (United States)

Description

A survey of the first results using the Microball in conjunction with Gammasphere for channel selection are presented. The Microball can select on charged-particle channel with an efficiency of 87-95% depending on reaction and rate. For charged particle channels with moderate to low cross sections it enhances the power of Gammasphere by a γ-ray coincidence fold, while preserving most of the statistics for these channels. Selected results from the first three experiments 230 MeV 51V + 100Mo, 128 MeV 29Si + 58Ni, and 130 MeV 32S + 58Ni are presented
