Description
Using Drosophila melanogaster which has X-linked white-ivory eye-color mutation wi we scored mosaic spots in eye of male flies irradiated with accelerated Si ions (linear energy transfer (LET): 60-250 keV/μm) and Ar ions (98-231 keV/μm) at the period of larvae. We also scored small nuclei of root chip cells of germinated onion seeds irradiated with the ions. The LET-relative biological effectiveness (RBE) relationship has the tendency of bell shaped for the onions' small nuclei and is not clear for Drosophila eye-color mosaic spots. (author)
