Statistical analysis of outbursts and superoutbursts of VW Hyi
Description
The amplitude and width of normal outbursts of VW Hyi are correlated with the length of preceding cycle, but not with the length of following cycle. Two types of supercycles are identified: Type L, in which the average length of the last two cycles is longer than 30 days and Type S, in which it is shorter than 23 days. In Type L supercycles the mean length of cycle, the mean amplitude and width of outburst increase within supercycle with the consecutive number of cycle. In Type S supercycles, however, the last two cycles are short and the last outburst - much weaker. No obvious relation of the two types to other parameters of supercycles or superoutbursts seems to exist. The cycle-averaged outburst fluxes indicate a slight enhancement in the mass transfer rate immediately after superoutburst and confirm its major enhancements during outbursts which occur within 50 days of the next superoutburst. 12 refs., 5 figs., 1 tab.
