Characteristics of π- meson multiplicity distributions in central collisions of 12C and 16O with nuclei at P=4.5 GeV/c per incident nucleon
Description
Multiplicities have been studied of megative pions from 16O+Ne, Pb and 12C+C, Ne, Cu, Zr, Pb central collisions at P=4.5 GeV/c per incident nucleon. It is shown that their distributions are similar to the Poisson distribution and that a relative width of the distributions eta=(-)/ decreases essentially when the veto angle, THETA, of charged projective fragment emission increases from 0 deg to 4 deg being nearly constant with a further increase of THETA up to 14 deg. The results obtained are compared with predictions of some theoretical models
