Description

This part is mainly devoted to the discussion of the importance function method in factorized Monte Carlo solutions of linear transport problems of uncharged particles such as neutrons or photons. It is shown that the factorized value-transformed solutions corresponding to the two nonfactorized zero-variance solutions discussed in Part I are non-zero-variance solutions. From the discussion a conclusion of great practical importance is drawn concerning the formulation of the original transport problem with the aid of a collision or an emission density-like function. In addition, integral representations of the second moments of the collision point and the emission point estimation in analogous and weighted factorized transport games are deduced. (author)
