Development of the method of quantitative emission spectral analysis applied to biological objects

Description
The effect of the excitation conditions of sample atoms in a combined spark-arc source on the intensity of the spectral lines of a number of elements such as manganese, cobalt, nickel, iron, molybdenum, aluminium, copper, zinc, lead, tin, calcium, sodium, titanium, cadmium, silicon, vanadium, tellurium has been studied. Various excitation sources have been utilized: spark, arc and combined ones under different working conditions. The sample analyzed was either placed at the end of the impregnated graphite electrode or inserted into the electrode crater with a buffer mixture as a solution. The effect of the concentration of a number of elements in double systems on the spectral line intensity has been investigated. At the combined spark-arc excitation, the intensity of the copper luminescence line, λ=3247.5 A, varies by more than four orders of magnitude with varying calcium concentration in the sample. In addition the effect of some alkali metals (lithium, sodium, potassium) on the spectral line intensity of various elements has also been investigated. The relation between the ionization potential of the element and its effect on the spectral line intensity has been studied. The interaction of elements in multicomponent mixtures, e.g. copper, nickel, magnesium, tin, cobalt, cadmium, tellurium, iron, etc. has been investigated. The dependence of the spectral line intensity on the content of metals in the sample has been determined. (author)
