Role of solvent in electron-phonon relaxation dynamics in core-shell Au@SiO2 nanoparticles
- 1. Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai (India)
Description
Ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopic technique elucidates change in the time constant of electron-phonon relaxation with the change in thermal conductivity of the surrounding medium in core-shell Au@SiO2 nanoparticles. Higher thermal conductivity of the solvent leads to faster dissipation of accumulated heat in the core-shell Au@SiO2 nanoparticles, resulting in smaller time constant associated with the relaxation of excited hot electrons.
