The determination of radioactive noble gases in the stack discharge of nuclear power plants

Description
A new method of evaluation is presented here, which is based on a combination of the results of continuous integral and continuous nuclide-specific noble gas measurements. As compared to the continuous integral measurement, this evaluation method leads to a reduction of systematic uncertainties and, compared to the continuous nuclide-specific measurement, to strongly reduced detection limits for the radionuclide 85Kr. The method is demonstrated by using data which were derived from a German pressure water reactor at the beginning of a the annual outage within the scope of integral and nuclide-specific comparative measurements. Es wird hier ein neues Auswerteverfahren vorgestellt, das auf einer Kombination der Ergebnisse von kontinuierlich integraler und kontinuierlich nuklidspezifischer Edelgasmessung beruht. Dieses Auswerteverfahren fuehrt gegenueber der kontinuierlich integralen Messung zu einer Reduzierung systematischer Unsicherheiten und gegenueber der kontinuierlich nuklidspezifischen Messung zu stark verbesserten Nachweisgrenzen fuer das Radionuklid 85Kr. Das Verfahren wird anhand von Messdaten, die bei einem deutschen Druckwasserreaktor zu Beginn einer Jahresrevision im Rahmen integraler und nuklidspezifischer Vergleichsmessungen ermittelt wurden, veranschaulicht.
