Large-angle stimulated Raman scattering of short laser pulses in plasma

Description

The peculiarities of induced combination scattering by large angles of a short laser pulse in a homogeneous rarefied plasma are analytically studied. Existence of the mode of stationary convective amplification of unstable waves in the counting system, accompanying the laser pulse, is established for the scattering angles not close to the zero one. The problem on the convective amplification in the two-dimensional area is solved in the approximations of the strong and weak bonds. It is shown that the stationary diffractions of the scattering radiation and the Langmuir scattering waves are essentially two-dimensional ones. It is established that the maximum possible spatial amplification on the pulse length by scattering at the assigned angle may be achieved in the case, when the ratio of the pulse cross-sectional size to its length dose not exceed the cotangent of the scattering half-angle
