Creators

Description
Results of polarisation measurements of the 11 cm emission line from the disk of the spiral galaxy M 31 are reported indicating that, throughout the bright ring of radio emission, the magnetic field is aligned along the arms that form the ring. The dependence of the degree of polarisation on the distance to the centre of M 31 as also studied. (UK)
