Cancer rehabilitation
Description
Cancer rehabilitation is a multidisciplinary approach aimed at preserving and improving quality of cancer patients´ life. This specific discipline should be considered as an integral part of the cancer control programme and in future it should have a status equal to that of surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Beside multiple forms of techniques and methods utilized for removing physical and psychological consequences of the disease and its treatment, more attention should be given to psychosocial needs of the patients which are not yet met by health system and other health providers. Analysis of the present situation in survivorship in Europe has shown that more research should be dedicated to this issue. (author)
